FreakFlare mobile App Privacy Policy

This policy applies to the FreakFlare mobile app for iOS and Android. For website and store privacy information, see shopify's Data Sharing Opt-Out page at https://freakflare.com/pages/data-sharing-opt-out.

The Short Version

FreakFlare does not collect, store, or transmit your personal data. Your presets and device settings stay on your phone. We have no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no cloud services.

What Data Exists

When you use the FreakFlare app, the following data is created and stored **locally on your device only**:

- **Presets** — LED lighting configurations you create and save

- **Device names** — custom names you assign to your FreakFlare devices

- **App preferences** — settings like update snooze timers

This data never leaves your device unless you choose to share it (for example, exporting a preset via the system share sheet).

What We Collect

**Nothing.** We do not collect personal information, usage data, analytics, crash reports, or telemetry of any kind.

Update Checks

The app periodically checks for available updates by sending an HTTP request to a public GitHub endpoint (`raw.githubusercontent.com`). This request contains no personal data — no device identifiers, no account information, no usage data. However, as with any internet request, the server may log your device's IP address. This is handled by GitHub under their own [privacy policy](https://docs.github.com/en/site-policy/privacy-policies/github-general-privacy-statement). You can check for updates manually from the Help menu.

Bluetooth Permissions

The app requests Bluetooth permissions solely to communicate with your FreakFlare LED devices. Bluetooth data (device discovery, connection state, commands) is transient and is not stored, logged, or transmitted to any server.

Support and Feedback

If you contact us via the in-app Support/Feedback feature, your email client composes a message that may include diagnostic information (app version, device model, operating system version, connected FreakFlare devices). **You choose what to send** — the email is composed on your device and sent through your own email app.

We retain support correspondence to provide ongoing product support and to improve FreakFlare. We do not sell, share, or use support data for marketing or advertising purposes. You may request deletion of your support correspondence at any time by emailing us at the address below.

Third Parties

We do not share any data with third parties. The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The only external network request the app makes is the update check described above.

Children's Privacy

FreakFlare is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Internet Permission

The app requires internet access for update checks and for composing support emails. No other network communication occurs.

Your Rights

Since we don't collect your data, there is nothing to access, correct, or delete on our end. Your presets and settings are stored locally on your device and can be deleted by uninstalling the app.

If you have sent us a support email and wish to have your correspondence deleted, contact us and we will remove it.

The FreakFlare app and hardware are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. FreakFlare is not liable for any damages arising from the use of the app or hardware, including but not limited to device malfunction, battery issues, or physical damage. The app controls physical LED hardware via Bluetooth — use responsibly and in accordance with local regulations.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL and the "last updated" date will be revised. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
